Excess...

too much. an over-abundance. full. stuffed. unable to contain more.
Or... my closet.
Seriously. Nothing is more depressing (and embarrassing) as realizing you not only have enough stuff to completely FILL your closet... you also have so much that you BREAK your closet.
Yup.
Sometime in the morning I awoke to a booming "SNAP!" Because I had earplugs in (yes, I sleep with earplugs...every night), I figured the sound must have come from the people above me. Not so. Unfortunately as soon as I awoke and opened my door to see what to wear...I realized exactly what that noise was.
How do I accumulate so much stuff? I made a decision two months ago not to buy anymore clothes. I don't need them. I need to enjoy and wear what I have. Today confirmed it.
And nothing is more embarrassing and humiliating than having to tell Cal (which is why I told Joyce) that I had so much stuff that I snapped the closet. This is made even more embarrassing when you realize he thought I would only need ten or so hangers when I first got here...I'm not even telling you how many I have now...
BUT... He came.. He fixed... (and He said nothing.) ;)
I'm thankful for someone who knows how to do about everything. I think every girl should either live close to their dad... or to Cal. :)

  1. love this. my dad is pretty good at not saying anything...did he give you "the smile?" hahaha i think that my closet is going to crash on a regular basis, and i never have enough hangers, so don't feel bad. What you don't know is how full my dad's closet is. :) I am pretty sure there are no extra hangers and i could probably pull out a shirt or two (like his highschool baseball shirts) that he no longer wears. Amid the piles of clothes you're probably also likely to find some Christmas presents my mom meant to give me and my sisters about 4 years ago and forgot about hiding because she bought them in august. :) I'm glad you're living near my parents! make sure you keep them young and hip, don't let their style get too far gone.

  2. I was wondering about the 'smile' too Charity: ) Charity is right about my dad's closet. My mom used to clean out his 'stuff' and "give it to Christi" so that I could throw it away and she could honestly tell my dad she gave it to me. His was all garage type stuff...but we each have our own area of 'stuff'. Love these updates Erin! And I agree with cj...you teachers keep mom and dad young!
